Music video :
1. Main star of the music video (indie artist) is walking around sheffield which gives audience an insight into the values of where artists live. Takes a tour around all of the recognisable places around sheffield such as park hill , devonshire green , manor social and mill houses. The plain format will help focus on the lyrics of the song and talent of the artist.
+ strengths are that this would be easy to produce using tracking and panning shots to show the artist and her surroundings. Other artists such as Beyonce have done similar things where there are minimal props and happenings in the video which helps the viewer concentrate on the song. This will help as the target audiences are similar and these videos have already proved successful.
- Possible weakness' of this idea are that unless shot creatively it could be quite boring therefore i would need to make sure that the scenes had enough to make them recognisable. This form of filming would also mean that there is no narrative to the video which could give extra depth to the song itself. Because this artists isnt yet developed, a video like this may not be as appriciated by an audience as nothing spectacular will be happening that will stay in the minds of those watching.
2. Story following the artist and the struggle to become noticed and get a gig - this will begin as her as a child playing with a guitar and then progressing into an artist . There will be a montage of images from her childhood which will hard cut to her now playing a gig in a well known venue . The song may not always match the visuals however will contain some insert action shots.
+ The narrative that follows this video will relate to the young target audience the artist appeals to, this means it will be effective in getting people watching and appriciating her music. Using a well known venue in Sheffield will show the audience that this artist is going to become big therefore her story as shown in the bulk of the video will be important.
- The music will not match the visuals which is a general convention in the majority of music videos unless the artist has a song that is so successful that it is unneeded. Because of the editing format that will have to be used, it is likely that the video will look slightly fragmented rather than one continuous scene.
Film Trailer:
1. A child is kidnapped which was witnessed by a young mentally unstable woman, before leaving the perpetrator attempts to brainwash the woman which causes her to become even more of an unreliable witness. Nobody knows who took the child apart from the woman mentioned and she struggles to recall the day due to her illness, Over time with police intervention it begins to be pieced together who committed the crime and as anticipated - it wasn't who they were lead to believe.
+ Other similar storylines have been popular over the years and therfore there is a market for such media products,
2. A documentary on a local photographer which follows their life and work despite being such a young age. This will talk about the constraints of the industry and follow the day to day life of the photography world.
